Casalist is a family organizer for iPhone and iPad: chores, shared lists, the family calendar, gift lists, supplies, home upkeep and rides. This policy explains what the app stores, where it lives and who can see it.
Allowance is a record only. No money moves through Casalist.
Everything is stored with Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) in your iCloud account. When you invite your family, Apple's iCloud sharing makes the household visible to the people who accept, and to no one else. Your data is also covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Everyone in a household can see the household's information. The app shows kids a simpler view, and it hides gifts from the person they're meant for and bought gifts and prices from kids. Those limits are in the app's screens; the household's information itself is shared with every phone in the household.
For parents, location sharing is off until they turn it on, and each parent decides for themselves. For someone set up as a kid, sharing is on by default and their parents control it: a parent can turn it off on the kid's page in the Family tab. iOS still asks the kid's phone for permission first, the phone shows the iOS location indicator while it's sharing, and the kid's Me page says whether their family can see where they are.
While sharing is on, Casalist keeps that person's spot on the family map up to date, including when the app is closed, and saves only their latest position. It's shared only with the household through iCloud and never sent to us. Turning sharing off removes the saved spot. Anyone can also stop it in iOS Settings, and the app works the same without it.
If you allow it, Casalist shows your family's calendars from Apple Calendar and saves the events you add or change there. If you link an Apple Reminders list, Casalist shows its reminders and keeps the reminders you add in that list. This happens on your phone. Casalist doesn't copy your calendars anywhere, and we never receive them.
On a parent's phone, Casalist can save a daily backup of your household to the app's folder in your own iCloud Drive (you can see it in the Files app). Kids' phones don't make backups. You can turn backups off in Settings → Data, and delete them in the Files app.
Reminders and alerts are local notifications created on your phone. There's no push server. You can turn them off any time in Settings or in iOS Settings.
If you choose to send a report from Settings → Send feedback → Report a problem, it opens an email in your own Mail app, and nothing is sent until you press Send. The report can include technical details about the app. Names, places, list and item names, email addresses, phone numbers and coordinates are removed before you see it, and you can preview it or leave it out. What you type and any screenshots you add are sent as they are. We use reports only to fix the problem.
A feature request (Settings → Send feedback → Request a feature) is also an email from your own Mail app. It contains what you type, plus the app version, device model, iOS version and language/region.
When you email us (including Report a problem and Request a feature), your message becomes a support ticket. Before anyone else sees it, your name, email address and phone numbers are removed. An AI assistant then helps us sort the ticket and draft a reply. A person reads and approves every reply before it's sent, and your email address stays with us; it's never given to the assistant. We use support emails only to answer you and fix the app.
If you buy Casalist or a subscription, Apple handles the payment through the App Store. We don't see your card or payment details; Apple only tells the app what you've bought. You can manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Casalist is made for families, with kids using it under a parent's supervision as part of their household. A parent sets up who is a kid; Casalist never asks for an age or birthdate. We don't collect information from children. Their information stays in the household's iCloud, like everyone else's.
To delete your household, go to Family → Settings → Data → Delete household (the owner; this removes it from iCloud for everyone) or Leave household (a member who joined). You can also delete any item or person in the app, and items you delete stay in Recently deleted for 30 days before they're removed for good. Backups can be deleted in the Files app. Deleting the app removes the data stored on that phone.
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
